General FAQs

Can I return the item if it doesn't work for me?

We offer a full 14 day refund on unopened, unused DayPod® orders, no questions asked. If your DayPod® arrives faulty or isn't performing as described, we'll always make it right regardless of whether it's been opened. What we can't offer is a refund on a used product simply because you've changed your mind - but honestly, once you've used it, we don't think you'll want to!

How do I check the status of my order?

You'll get an order confirmation the moment you place it, and a tracking number as soon as it ships. Pop your tracking number into our Track Order page and you can stalk your DayPod® all the way to your door. If your confirmation email hasn't arrived, check your spam folder first - then drop us a line and we'll get the logistics Elves to look into it.

My C-Core™ has melted, does that mean it's no longer performing?

Not even slightly! This is actually your Cooling Core entering its active cooling phase andd doing exactly what it's supposed to do. The C-Core™ uses phase change technology, meaning it absorbs heat by melting, storing that energy so your sunscreen continues to stay cool all day.

Just pop it back in the freezer or fridge overnight and it'll be fully recharged and ready to go again tomorrow.

How can I get in contact with you?

You can contact us by email. You can also open a chat with us by clicking the link provided and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

My drawstring feels stiff, is that normal?

Completely normal and nothing to worry about. The DayPod® has a protective coating that makes it water resistant and stain resistant, and like any quality treated fabric, it can feel a little firm straight out of the box.

After a few uses it'll soften up nicely and feel much more natural. Just don't force the drawstring too hard in those first few uses as you could damage the collar. For more info, including a video, head to our How to Use page.

What is the Goldilocks Zone™?

Not too hot, not too cold...just right. The Goldilocks Zone™ is the 15–25°C temperature range that cosmetic scientists and dermatologists agree is optimal for sunscreen stability. Below it, emulsions can separate and UV filters crystallise. Above it, the chemistry actively degrades. DayPod® keeps your sunscreen in this precise window all day. Science, sorted.

What is the Broken Shield Effect™?

When sunscreen gets too cold — from direct contact with ice packs or sub-zero temperatures — the emulsion can separate and UV filters can crystallise. The result is uneven protection that looks fine in the bottle but leaves gaps on your skin. We named it the Broken Shield Effect™ because that's exactly what it is. DayPod® prevents it by keeping things comfortably above freezing point while still keeping them cool.

How long does DayPod® keep my sunscreen cool?

Up to 11 hours with a freezer charge. That's a full beach day covered - and then some. For most normal summer days and a fridge charge, you're looking at 8-9 hours. More than enough. And if you've got a spare C-Core™ charging back at the hotel, you've basically got 24 hour coverage sorted.

Does it work with all sunscreen brands and SPF factors?

Yes. DayPod® keeps the temperature stable regardless of what brand is inside. SPF 15, SPF 50, mineral, chemical, spray, lotion - if it fits in the bag, it's protected. We tested with SPF 15, 30 and 50 simultaneously during our DEF-STAN performance testing, and all three stayed in the Goldilocks Zone™ throughout.

Can I use it for things other than sunscreen?

Technically yes, anything that benefits from being kept between 15 and 25°C is fair game. Some of our testers use it for after-sun, face mists, and skincare. Just don't put your lunch in it. it's not designed for food, sorry.

How do I charge my C-Core™?

Freezer overnight (minimum 8 hours) for maximum performance. Fridge overnight for a standard beach day - make sure it's running at 4°C or below though, not a hotel mini bar. In a pinch, submerge the bare C-Core™ in a bowl of iced water for 4 to 6 hours. Then pop it straight into DayPod® and go. Limited, but still works.

How many times can I recharge the Cooling Core™

Literally hundreds, if not more. The C-Core™ is designed for repeated use with almost no degradation in performance. Charge it, use it, recharge it. Repeat for years.

What if I only have a hotel mini bar fridge?

Hotel mini bars typically run warmer than a proper fridge and may not get cold enough to fully charge your C-Core™, or at all. Our recommendation in that case is ask reception to pop it in their kitchen freezer overnight. Most hotels are happy to help. If not, the iced water method works in a pinch.

Can I buy a replacement C-Core™?

Yes! Spare C-Core™ Thermal Inserts are available in pink and blue for £20 each. Charge one while you use the other and you've got almost 24 hour coverage. That's peace of mind sorted.

How many bottles fit inside?

2-3 standard 200ml bottles fit comfortably in the main compartment depending on shape. The more you fill it the better actually - a well-packed DayPod® maintains temperature more efficiently than a half-empty one. Think of it like a cool box. Full is better.

Is the C-Core™ safe?

Yes,and here's the honest truth:

The C-Core™ contains a precision grade phase change material that is safely sealed inside double-layered TPU pouches. It never comes into contact with you or your sunscreen under normal use. It is independently REACH tested and classified as non-hazardous for transport.

Like many everyday materials, including those found in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, the contents carry standard precautionary labelling. Don't pierce the pouches. If the material contacts skin, wash with soap and water. If ingested, seek immediate medical attention.

In practice, the C-Core™ sits inside your bag doing its job safely all day. Thousands of similar sealed phase change products are used daily in medical cold chain, pharmaceutical packaging, and skincare logistics worldwide.

It's been through the testing. It passed. You're in good hands.

Does it work in extreme heat?

Yes, and we have proof. DayPod® was independently tested to DEF-STAN 00-35, the UK Ministry of Defence hot dry climate standard, at peak temperatures of 38°C simulating a hot holiday environment. It maintained the Goldilocks Zone™ for 11 hours and 45 minutes. If it can handle a MOD desert simulation, it can handle your holiday.

What happens if I forget to charge the C-Core™?

DayPod® still provides passive insulation from its reflective lining and insulated construction - so it's still better than an ordinary bag. But for full Goldilocks Zone™ performance, you really do want a charged C-Core™ inside. Set a reminder, your sunscreen is counting on you.

Can I use it year round or just on holiday?

Year round. Skincare doesn't stop when summer does - and let's face it the UK is getting hot. Anywhere you're carrying SPF -whether that's a ski trip, a city break, or a garden day at home, DayPod® keeps your sunscreen in perfect condition. The C-Core™ works just as well in February as it does in August.

Do you ship internationally?

Not yet, we're UK only for right now. We're working on it and international shipping is coming soon. If you're outside the UK and desperate to get your hands on one, drop us a line at info@coolfactor.uk and we'll see what we can do.

How long does delivery take?

UK orders are sent via tracked 48 hour delivery. You'll receive a tracking number as soon as your order ships so you can follow it excitedly all the way to your door.

What's in the box when it arrives?

Your DayPod® bag, your C-Core™ Thermal Insert, some cool packaging, and everything you need to get started. Full instructions are on our How to Use page - and there's a video too.

Is DayPod® scientifically tested?

Very much so. As mentioned, DayPod® was tested to DEF-STAN 00-35 - the UK Ministry of Defence hot dry climate standard by a UKAS accredited independent laboratory. The pod and C-Core™ thermal insert was independently verified by a leading testing and certification organisations. See our Science page for full details. We don't do anything by halves.

What does REACH compliant mean?

REACH is the EU and UK regulation governing chemicals in consumer products. It sets strict limits on substances that could be harmful.

DayPod® has been independently tested across 11 substance categories and passed every single one with flying colours. It means you can trust that what's in your pod has been properly checked. Full compliance summary available on our Science page.

Is the C-Core™ water?

Nope, the C-Core™ contains a precision grade phase change material, not water. Water freezes at 0°C which would be way too cold for your sunscreen. The C-Core™ transitions at 18°C - precisely engineered to sit right in the middle of the Goldilocks Zone™ for as long as possible. That's what makes it work so well.

Will you release other products?

Oh yes, and we're already working on them. We can't say too much just yet but we intend to have DayPod® to be part of a larger family - and there's more coming. Watch this space!

Why does DayPod® cost £38?

Fair question. We'd rather answer it honestly than hope you don't ask.

DayPod® is not a cheap, generic insulated bag with a logo slapped on it. It is not a cheap cool bag with a rebrand either.

DayPod® is the world's first precision engineered suncare safe, a product that took almost a year to develop, independently tested to UK Ministry of Defence standard DEF-STAN 00-35, REACH compliant across 11 substance categories, and protected by three UK Registered Designs.

The Cooling Core™ thermal insert inside it was independently verified by one of the world's leading testing and certification organisations, to transition at exactly the right temperature to keep your sunscreen in the Goldilocks Zone™.

The materials are chosen for performance, not just price. The dual collar and cuff closure is a deliberate thermal engineering decision, not a style choice. The PhoneCool™ pocket has a thermally lined interior. Nothing is an afterthought.

Put simply it works...very well.

You can of course absolutely buy a cheaper cool bag - plenty exist. But they are not designed to keep sunscreen at the correct temperature, far from it. if you want something that has been genuinely tested, genuinely engineered, and genuinely works - that costs more than a fiver and free shipping from a warehouse you've never heard of.

A single good sunscreen costs at least £7, way more if you go organic. But DayPod® does much more than that - it makes sure what you purchased actually does what it says on the label, all day, every day you use it. We feel countless summers of proper SPF protection is worth at least £38. We'd argue considerably more.

Are some of your images / videos AI generated?

You have a keen eye! Yes, a few of them are, and we'd rather tell you that upfront rather than have you wonder.

We're a small independent UK brand and we launched without the budget of a major corporation that can afford a full professional lifestyle shoot. As such, some of the imagery and videos on the site are generated with AI as a placeholder based on real images, while we get real photography organised.

What is absolutely not AI: the science, the style and colours, the testing and results, the lab verification, the REACH compliance, the registered designs, or the product itself. All of that is real, independently verified, and documented.

We'll be updating the imagery as soon as we can. In the meantime, trust that what we are saying is real. - we have the receipts to back it all up.
